Here are the guys who could split carries down the stretch for Oklahoma and what each of them offers the offense.
Allen Patrick
The 6-foot-1, 195-pound junior is more elusive, but not as strong as Peterson (who is?). He's fast when he gets to the corner and is at his best in the I-formation.
Jacob Gutierrez
The second coming of former Sooner Quentin Griffin, Gutierrez is the prototypical spread offense back. He says he's 100 percent healthy after tearing his ACL in the 2005 Holiday Bowl.
Mossis Madu
Of the three true freshmen, Madu, from Norman, has been the most impressive in all facets of the offense at practice.
Chris Brown
The Alexandria, Va., freshman is another I-formation back. Running backs coach Cale Gundy says he has the tools to help OU this season.
DeMarco Murray
The 6-foot freshman from Las Vegas has been hobbled by a turf toe and only recently became fully healthy. Gundy said he'll redshirt.
