NORMANBob Stoops was not a happy camper even before the news arrived of Adrian Peterson's broken collarbone.

Oklahoma's 34-9 victory over Iowa State on Saturday did not draw rave reviews from Stoops.

"Get tired of the same things," Stoops said, rambling off dropped passes, a fumble, late blitzes and blown coverages as some of the OU mistakes. Interesting take for the coach of a team that played a solid, solid game.

"I just feel we're capable of more," Stoops said.

Iowa State coach Dan McCarney didn't echo Stoops' concern. He called the Sooners "outstanding" and said, "There were a lot of plays that they were just physically better than we were.

"We couldn't run the ball. We tried to. Their pass rush was better than our protection. It's another great Oklahoma defense, that's for sure."

One Sooner who definitely didn't play well was Reggie Smith, who had been the mainstay of the Sooner secondary. Smith was burned for a couple of long completions in the first quarter, including a 31-yard touchdown pass from Bret Meyer to Todd Blythe, and also let a punt drop that rolled all the way to the OU 2-yard line, setting up a safety.

"That one, I couldn't see because of the sun," Smith said. "Coach kind of got upset with me."
