Game day has finally arrived today for Reggie Smith and he’s more than ready for it. The Oklahoma sophomore has been hungry to get back on the field from the moment last week’s game ended. Of course, learning another new position — the boundary cornerback spot — keeps the cornerback/wide receiver/kick returner busy during the week.

I’m pretty excited to get back out there and play football again. It was upsetting, what happened last week, but you got to move on. It happens. Tough times come and you just got to keep moving on with the season.

For the most part, the first couple days of practice I’m just working full defense. Then, Wednesday, Thursday, that’s when I go over and work on some receiver a little bit. Thursday we do special teams. It’s really not too stressful, though.

I was getting really used to field corner. It’s different (at boundary corner), but I’ll get used to it if I have to be there for a while. It’s a whole different technique. You don’t really get as much time to back-pedal and read the quarterback.

A lot of stuff happens a lot faster on that side, because the quarterback’s a lot closer to that side and the receivers are a lot closer to each other.

You have to make quicker decisions and you can’t be wrong. If you’re wrong, it’s gonna be tough, because the quarterback’s a lot closer and he can get the ball there faster.

I didn’t get in (at receiver) against Oregon. Hopefully I’ll get in and get the ball in my hands some more. I’m just going off what (the coaches) tell me.
