The Sooners didn't have a timeout left, but Stoops said it wouldn't have mattered anyway.

"(The official) took care of that by saying the guy was already down with the football before it was taken away from him," Stoops said Sunday. "Once the ball is ruled down, it's not reviewable. So he pretty much sealed that up."
Stoops added that after watching the game tape, he still believed Patrick had recovered the kick legitimately.
"It's obvious, as Allen said to me, ‘Coach, the ball was just laying on the ground,'" Stoops said. "How they can explain that, I don't know."
What went wrong on Garrett Hartley's last-second field goal attempt, which Oregon blocked?
Stoops called the protection "decent" on the field goal try and said no one broke through the interior of the line. The kick simply was too low.
"There's a bunch of them in there that just get up, and I think the kick's a little bit low," Stoops said. "They're climbing on each other pretty good in there.
"It's just one of those things. It looks like Garrett hit a pretty good ball and it just didn't rise quite quick enough."
How did Adrian Peterson look in his first action returning kickoffs?
Peterson's appearance as a kickoff returner was a surprise. Peterson finished with 68 yards on his three returns and Stoops said he expects his star running back to improve with time.
Stoops also said the decision to put Peterson in that role had nothing to do with the job Juaquin Iglesias had done in the first two games. It's just a matter of getting the ball in the hands of his best player a few more times.
What is the status of Jon Cooper's ankle injury?
Coaches don't believe it is serious and it's not the same ankle he broke last season.
Oklahoma's starting center could be ready to play Saturday against Middle Tennessee State, but his health might not necessarily be the determining factor in whether he plays, offensive coordinator Kevin Wilson said.
Instead, it will likely be a risk-reward decision for the coaching staff. Rather than risk Cooper hurting the leg against a weaker opponent, coaches might choose to give him the week off and, combined with the following bye week, guarantee that he's fully healthy in time for the Texas game and the rest of Big 12 play.
Chase Beeler saw the first action of his career in place of Cooper on Saturday, but Wilson said the coaching staff had not planned to redshirt the freshman from Jenks. Another true freshman offensive lineman, Trent Williams, also is expected to play at some point this season, Wilson said.
"Some of these games have gotten closer than we wanted," Wilson said. "It would have been nice to get those guys (Beeler and Williams) a few more plays than we have."
Did Cooper's absence affect play-calling in the red zone late in the game?
Not significantly, Wilson says.
Beeler was in at center on the final three OU possessions, two of which resulted in short field goals.
"We didn't miss a beat other than the concern of making sure the exchanges were clean (between Beeler and Paul Thompson)," Wilson said.
"We just didn't want to have a turnover down there. We wanted to get some points. We were up 10, but we needed to get that thing to 17 and we weren't able to do that."
Wilson strongly considered throwing in the red zone, but tried to keep the ball on the ground in fear of stopping the clock with an incompletion.
"Another play-action pass there probably would have given us a better chance of scoring," Wilson said.
