• Hart Award: Before the Triple-A championship game, the inaugural
Jason Hart Award will be presented to...
Jason Hart, the RedHawks first baseman who returned to the team this year after recovering from a benign brain tumor in 2005. Someone else will be presented the award in future seasons.
"The award is based on a RedHawks player or coach who has exemplified what a
Jason Hart is all about, and that is character and attitude," the RedHawks'
John Allgood said.
• Pitching greats here: Two former major-league pitching stars,
Rollie Fingers and
Tommy John, will be at the Bricktown Showdown.
In another pregame ceremony,
Fingers will present the inaugural Most Spectacular Pitcher Award to
Scott Lewis of the
Kinston Indians (
Carolina League). His 1.48 ERA led the league and was fifth among all minor leaguers.
Busting out: At 5 p.m. Monday, the
Oklahoma Centennial will unveil the four latest busts on the
Mickey Mantle Plaza outside the ballpark's third-base-line entrance.
The busts will be of
Carl Hubbell,
Pepper Martin and brothers
Lloyd and
Paul Waner. They will join busts of
Bobby Murcer and
Allie Reynolds on the plaza. The ballpark also features statues of
Mantle,
Johnny Bench and
Warren Spahn.
