Day of lilies

Daylily enthusiasts, gardeners and horticulturists will be offering specimens from their collections for sale at the Central Oklahoma Hemerocallis Society’s annual daylily sale on Sept. 9.

The sale will begin at 8 a.m. at Will Rogers Garden Center, 3400 NW 36, and will continue until sold out. Prices generally are about half of listed catalog prices, the society said.

The bare-root plants of a variety of colors, shapes and sizes represent some of the best daylilies in the state, society members say. The plants have produced well in members’ yards.

Fall is the best time of year to plant perennials, and the daylily is no exception. The Central Oklahoma Hemerocallis Society members divide their daylilies, getting ready to make room to plant new varieties.

Picture placer

How many nail holes does it take to hang a picture? One, if you use Picture Placer.

The plastic gadget takes the guesswork out of positioning framed artwork that’s hung with picture wire. You just hook the wire over a plastic arm that adjusts to the size of the frame, position the picture where you want it and press. A point on the back of the arm leaves a mark on the wall where the hook should go.

Picture Placer can be ordered at www.pictureplacer.com for $12.98 for one or $14.97 for two, including shipping.
