After spending his freshman season as a receiver, Lendy Holmes has found a fresh start at defensive back. Holmes, out of South Oak Cliff High School in Dallas, is working as the team’s nickel back and backup boundary cornerback behind D.J. Wolfe.

You’re having some success at defensive back. Did you play there in high school?

I played a lot of defensive back, really. I played a lot of both ways, never came off the field. I came up here and started at receiver, but things didn’t quite work out, so I moved to defensive back.

Who is the biggest trash talker on the team?

We got a lot of ’em. On offense, we got Fred (Strong). I mean, A.D. (Adrian Peterson), he’ll talk a little bit, that’s when you get him hyped. We got a lot on defense. I’ll talk a little bit. D.J. (Wolfe) and Reggie (Smith), they’ll talk some. Reggie, he’s got to be motivated. Oh, Branndon Braxton. He’s the biggest trash talker, to me.

Is there a guy who likes to talk trash but isn’t very good at it?

(laughs) Yeah, we’ve got some of those. Not just one guy and it’s not constantly, just every once in a while to make everybody laugh.

Is it good to have a laugh every now and then during a hard practice?

Yeah. I’ll do that sometimes. I try to get the team laughing. And a few other guys do it, too.

Any coaches try to make jokes?

Coach (Bobby Jack) Wright will. He can be pretty funny.
