Q&A with Keenan Clayton

Published: August 24, 2006

From time to time, redshirt freshman Keenan Clayton will hear his name thrown in next to that of former Oklahoma star Roy Williams, which he knows would be a difficult reputation to match.

But it's another former Sooner that Clayton is most often asked about.

Do you ever get asked if you're related to Mark Clayton? Everywhere I go, every time somebody sees my last name, they're like, "Are you any kind of relation to Mark?" But no, we're no relation.

You wore No. 9 last year. Why did you change to No. 22? I wanted to wear 22 when I got here, because that's what I wore in high school, but Chijioke (Onyenegecha) was a senior. He left, and I asked if I could get my high school number back.

Some guys on the team have compared you to Roy Williams. How does that feel?

That's a big shoe to fill, being compared to Roy Williams. But that's a goal for me to accomplish. Hopefully, by the time I leave here, I'll be able to fill those shoes.
