Question of the Day: Where would you rank Adrian Peterson in the Heisman Trophy race?
Published: July 27, 2006
Bob Davie, ABC analyst: Without a doubt I'd rank him No. 2 behind (Notre Dame quarterback) Brady Quinn. Adrian Peterson burst onto the national scene his freshman year, but Brady Quinn has more momentum. Coming off a special season, Brady Quinn is fresh in a lot of people's eyes.

Texas A&M coach Dennis Franchione: He's definitely in the top three. He's a complete back, a great back. I coached a great one in LaDainian Tomlinson. I see a lot of the same characteristics in Adrian Peterson. He has power. He's fast. He has good vision. He's just a great running back.
Randy Riggs, Austin-American Statesman: No. 1 if he stays healthy. He's not only one of the best running backs in the nation this year, he may be one of the best running backs of all time.
Iowa State coach Dan McCarney: I can't imagine a list out there that doesn't have Adrian Peterson on it. He's a phenomenal player, one of the premier players in college football. We're going to try and sneak 12 (players) out there and hope Stoopsy won't notice it.
Texas A&M linebacker Justin Warren: I'd put him in the top three, top five. I believe he should have won it his freshman year. He got hurt last year and still had over 1,000 yards. He's definitely one of the favorites.
Steven Wieberg, USA Today: He's probably the front-runner going in. Typically this goes to the best player on one of the best teams. Probably the top three, in some order, are Ohio State, Notre Dame and OU. Each of those teams has at least one player people will be keeping an eye on throughout the season.
Iowa State defensive back DeAndre Jackson: Watching his highlights, he's amazing. I would rank him high, either one or two, him and Brady Quinn. We haven't played them. This year we will. I like going against guys of his caliber. That game will be very interesting.
Missouri coach Gary Pinkel: He's right there near the top. He's a great player, a great player for our league. It will be quite a challenge when we play them.
Blair Kerkhoff, Kansas City Star: Second behind Brady Quinn. Last year is what counts most, not two years ago. Brady Quinn had a better season last year. He has more momentum going into this year.
Texas A&M quarterback Stephen McGee: He's a great player, but I don't know how you rank anyone until they go out and play some games. Obviously, he's played well for two years. He's an incredible player. He's certainly one of best players in the nation.
Adrian Peterson: What? Rank myself? That's hard to say. I haven't been thinking about that much. That's the people's choice.
