Enid photographer plans centennial look at state

Mike Klemme expects to put at least 30,000 miles on his car this year, crisscrossing Oklahoma in an attempt to "shock and awe" you.

Klemme, a professional photographer from Enid, is working under tight deadlines to complete a photographic portrait of Oklahoma in time for next year's centennial celebration.

His project, the Oklahoma Centennial Photographic Survey, is sanctioned by the Oklahoma Centennial Commemoration Commission. The result will be a book that should be on store shelves in spring 2007, and a traveling exhibition that Klemme said will make its first stop that summer at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington.
